Here's the return of my video reviews, with me discussing the very average and brain-hurting TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D. It's not a great film, but it's stupidity somewhat entertained me.
I wonder why Wikipedia calls Drayton the family brother. I read that before I'd seen any of the movies and I guess it just got hardcoded into my head, but really, I don't think there's a single moment where we ever find out what the hell relation he is to everyone else! haha!
ReplyDeleteIt sucks that this film is such a letdown, I was really looking forward to it. I guess no sequel will ever top Dennis Hopper chainsaw duelling with Leatherface...
Does it really? Drayton was always established as the father of the Sawyer clan. At least that's what has been implied.
DeleteAnd yeah, I guess I was hoping it would be better than average. I wasn't looking for greatness, but I was looking for a film that could at least be seen as a decent companion to the original. And this film, while stupidly fun, has too many flaws to overlook. But it's definitely worth a rental if you're curious. It's doing well at the box office here in the United States, so there will be a sequel - which I hope will fix the mistakes of this one.
Yeah, that would make more sense than him being a brother, given the age difference and all. Speaking of, I REALLY need to rewatch the series, it's been far too long since I've watched the exploits of the saw and family!...And it hasn't been long enough since I've watched The Next Generation!
DeleteDrayton says in part 2 that he has "stooped his shoulders taking care of his younger brothers." Tobe Hooper also confirms in the part 1 commentary that Drayton, Leatherface, and the Hitchhiker were meant to be brothers.
DeleteWow, I completely missed that. Thanks for that bit of info. I always thought he was the father of the clan due to his age.
